WILD is an artisanal producer of Kombucha, infusing fruits and florals to create a perfect balance of tang and tart. We provide delicious, high quality brews that nourishes the community, supports local businesses and giving back to society. We are committed to real ingredients and environmentally conscious practices that include minimising waste, responsible packaging and inspiring sustainability.
Growing up, I was blighted with systemic inflammation in the form of eczema. My visits to doctors and dermatologists constantly describe an external condition that only affects the skin and has nothing to do with the inside, followed by prescriptions of steroid-laced pills and topical creams. Needless to say, the redness, itchiness and pain would always recur and become worse after a bout of medication.
My Kombucha journey began in 2014 when I was gifted a SCOBY culture from my brother. Without knowing what it was and feeling desperate at that time, I followed his instructions and made a small batch of my own. To my surprise, not only was it delicious, it gradually supplanted my after meal cravings for chocolates and sweets. Over several months of regular consumption, the symptoms had subsided immensely and my skin improved remarkably. Since then, I’ve never felt happier and healthier having to overcome this ordeal that has plagued me all the way through adulthood!
Coming off the elation that I was able to end my eczema through healing my gut, I decided to walk away from my job as a chemical engineer. WILD was then established to promote the awareness and benefits of Kombucha by providing authentic, quality brews in Malaysia. Each bottle is made in small batches, handcrafted using natural ingredients to ensure a balanced profile between tang and tart, while developing different depths of flavors that makes every sip meaningful, delightful and wonderful. Inspired by the adversity that had started all of it, we seek to share the healing powers of this ancient elixir to help people live better, healthier lives.
We are committed to a refillable model. It limits our growth in a world where single use packaging is the norm, but we know we can make a difference through the choices we make every day.
Our passion quickly grew into a business and we graduated from selling Kombucha at market fairs to supplying at various spots around the Petaling Jaya and Klang Valley area. Since then, our goal has always been to make delicious brews and providing them to customers in a sustainable way without increasing our carbon footprint. While reusing bottles was central to our operating model, we decided to put our Kombucha into kegs as well. We worked closely with our first accounts, like QRA Foods in becoming the first supermarket that offers Kombucha on-tap! Not only do we have our flavours in bottles as well as kegs, those bottles are also refillable on draft.
WILD isn’t about being crazy, is about being courageous and stepping out of the comfort zone to do things differently from what most people would do.
Friends and family know I’m quite an introvert – I usually prefer to spend my time alone. Sure, you could say that the business side of things had pushed me to socialize more, but it has been such a rewarding experience. There’s power in local community and you’d be surprised who you’ll meet out in the real world if you’re open to it, such as our collaboration with fresh where we were given a spotlight to showcase our Kombucha for the Fresh Beauty Kitchen in KLCC over the span of 10 days! We were also involved in a diverse range of festivities such as wellness bazaars, new store launches, health workshops and fitness fairs, with the most memorable being Lululemon. We’ve journeyed together with their team for studio takeovers across KL city for over a month, having witnessed an abundant flow of positive energy while getting to meet so many wonderful people along the way, all culminating in one huge community event at Platinum Park and two new outlet openings in KLCC and Pavilion!
WILD reminds us that to live freely, we have to step up and make changes independently, even if it means taking the road less travelled. It isnt’t about being volent or rebellious, but rather it’s about loosening the shackles of what civilization expects us to be. It’s the reason that we exist, and it’s the inspiration that fuels us everyday.
